Two very good things just happened to me, although I suppose one of them wasn't personal or anything.




As you may or may not know, Sweden has legalized gay marriage. Iowa has also legalized gay marriage through their Supreme Court's overruling of an anti-gay marriage law. Vermont became the first state to legalize gay marriage through the legislature, by passing a gay marriage law and then overruling the governor's subsequent veto of it. And Washington DC is now recognizing the gay marriages of people from other states; which is as close as it can get to legalizing gay marriage for itself since it is not a state and therefore doesn't do marriages. I don't know exactly what rights that will confer, but I'm sure it will be beneficial to anyone who gets married and wants to move to DC.

It seems like some of the first good news for same-sex marriage post-Prop 8, and it makes me rather ridiculously happy. I sound completely ridiculously corny, but this is one of the first times that I've actually felt like I might have the federal right to marry within my lifetime, and that feels fantastic.


And in other news, I JUST ATE A CHOCOLATE CUPCAKE. IT WAS FUCKING DELICIOUS. I FEEL VERY VERY HAPPY RIGHT NOW.
